GALLANT COLLAB’S FREE WRITING WORKSHOP - Hosted by Makara Center for the Arts

Made for those looking for detailed, honest, and respectful feedback for their short story or novel. It’s also the perfect environment to learn how to write (if you’re a beginner) or learn how to write better (if you’re a writer in need of some discipline) through reading others’ writing and thoughtfully critiquing their work. In return, you get your work critiqued and hopefully become more clear about how you can edit your work to make it something you can truly be proud of.

Workshops are held twice a year, in the Spring and in the Fall.

This is an MFA-style writing workshop where every meeting we will come prepared, having read a participant's short story and printed out a 1 page written critique their work. Writers must sign up to have their work discussed on a specific date and bring their story to the meeting BEFORE that date so everyone has time (2 weeks) to read & respond to their work.

Stories must be 10 pages maximum, double spaced, with 1 inch margins.

These workshops run from 6 to 12 weeks, depending on what participants agree on.
